DONATE TO THE FOOD PANTRY MINISTRY

And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
And satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
Then your light will rise in the darkness,
And your night will become like the noonday.

 ISAIAH 58:10

food pantry ministry

The Monaghan United Methodist Church Food Pantry started in January 2020 with a goal to help provide food to those in need in our local community.  We deliver food boxes each month to Active Day Greenville, a non-residential adult day care facility located directly behind our church.  The food boxes contain canned vegetables and meats, peanut butter and jelly, and various dry goods such as pasta, rice, and grits.  We also give food boxes to those in need at the Little Red Store which is open Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 noon (the store is located in the red mill house located opposite the church at the four-way stop on Hellams Street and McBeth Street).  In August 2021, we added "God's Free Pantry" -- a green former newspaper box -- on the front porch of the Little Red Store.  It is stocked with small boxes containing canned foods with pull-tops and snacks that anyone in need may take.  We fund our food pantry ministry through a mixture of special offerings from our church members, proceeds from our Little Red Thrift Store, memorials given to the church, and grants. If you wish to support the food ministry you may donate via PayPal by clicking the donate icon at the top of the page.  If you need food assistance, please call the church office at 864-233-7733 and leave your name and a telephone number and a member of our staff will contact you.
